- 1 c cornmeal
- 1/2 c flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c chopped onions
- 1/2 to 2 c buttermilk
- Combine ingredients, adding buttermilk until the mixture is thick and lumpy but creamy.
- Let set in refrigerator for 20 minutes.
- Heat oil on stovetop, and drop spoonfuls into oil. Drain before serving.
